NOW GET THE DVD!
It is a brand new club which has been started up by people who like to get together to dance. Everyone is welcome, with or without a partner. French Jive is very easy and great fun so no previous dance experience is required. There will be an opportunity to learn and plenty of time to enjoy social dancing. You are welcome to come along just to watch, but be warned you may find that you cannot resist having a go!
Rules are few for the dancers:
- In the ‘class’, we rotate partners every couple of minutes – this allows everyone to have a go, you meet new people and it encourages you to learn from others and teach those that are struggling. Staying with the same partner encourages you to get into ‘bad’ habits.
- Anyone can ask anyone else to dance – Ladies you don’t wait for the men to ask!
- It is all for fun – we don’t take ourselves too seriously
- Learn the basics BEFORE adopting your own ‘style’ – making an incorrect signal or lead can result to an accident!
- He who leads is ALWAYS to blame – If it goes wrong and you end up standing there looking at each other – have a laugh and ‘start all over again’. It happens all the time.
- Be aware of your partner and the people around you – when you look around you will notice that everyone has the BIGGEST smiles.
Have a look at the WFJC posts also -“You are never too old”
What does it cost?
We are not trying to make a profit – just cover the cost of the hall and insurance. It will be about the cost of a coffee or a pot of beer.
Where is it held?
We are currently trying to to sort out a regular venue for the club with the right facilities and ambience.
Location of next meetings:
Warrandyte Community Centre
168-178 Yarra Street, Warrandyte
Car park at the rear accessible from Webb Street. The room overlooks the car park.
There is not a bar in the centre, so please bring your own refreshments.

What George Bernard Shaw had to say about WFJC
1. “Dancing: The vertical expression of a horizontal desire legalized by music.”
2. “If you can’t get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you’d best teach it to dance.”
3. “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
And one for the girls from Christopher Morley
“Dancing is a wonderful training for girls, it’s the first way you learn to guess what a man is going to do before he does it.”
