California – General Guidelines for Creating Defensible Space

This guide produced in 2006 followed changes to their Public Resources Code requiring the expansion of defensible space from 30 feet to 100 feet!

I notice that they say approximately one dead tree per acre is acceptable – at the last count we had over thirty which would be within the 100 foot zone
