The Fireguard Newsletter from the CFA

I received this today from the CFA:

The fire situation continues, and many are dealing with losses while everyone else is dealing with the ongoing threat of the season, some are actually dealing with both.

Take care at present & stay safe.

  1. Fireguardian Newsletter attached.

Please find attached the Fireguard Newsletter for those in your group you do email with.

HARD COPIES are currently being printed and will be in the post by Thursday ( I hope)  you will receive the number of hard copies you had previously requested.

Primarily this has some stories or snippets from peoples’ experiences, as well as some info on Bunkers & Fire Danger Index – I know people are discussing these at present.

  1. Total Fire Ban Day – Tuesday 3rd March – tomorrow has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban for the whole state of Victoria. High winds are predicted so it is essential everyone activates their bushfire survival plan.

  1. Green Waste disposal –

Shire of Yarra Ranges. – free for next two weeks – at 4 centres: Healesville, Wesburn, Lysterfield, & Coldstream. You need to take proof you are a resident, rate notice, drivers license.

Manningham – vouchers for free disposal – every Sunday. Vouchers obtained from Shire offices or any Shire service centres.

Cardinia – free green waste collection from your nature strip OR get a free voucher. Need to call Shire to book in for collection or to get vouchers. Only one collection or voucher per property.

  1. Additional Fire Ready Victoria meetings

We are currently conducting a number of additional Fire Ready Victoria public meetings. These meetings are not to give information about the fires, they are to provide information to residents regarding what they can do to prepare their properties and to develop their bushfire plans. For your information these are advertised on the CFA website, signs on the street and flyers in local shops – these meetings are being scheduled at very short notice so keep your eye on the website for meetings, they do change if conditions dictate – it is not always possible to notify CFG groups of these meetings.  Please note in the future they are postponed if it is a TFB.

FYI meetings coming up are:

Panton Hill Memorial Park – 7pm Mon 2nd

Monbulk Secondary College – 7pm Monday 2nd

Belgrave Sth – Recreation Reserve 7pm Wed 4th

Research Reserve – 7pm Wed 4th

Seville Hall – 7pm Thurs 5th

Mt Evelyn Pembroke Secondary College –  7pm Thurs 5th

Wonga Park Heritage Country Club – 7pm Thurs 5th

There are also – Fire Information meetings at Healesville Hall & Warburton tonight ( Mon 2nd)

That’s all for now –

Regards Helen Wositzky
